I’m Tired

I’m tired.

I’m tired of fighting for the same things in education.

Over and over again.

I’m tired because nothing seems to change.

Things only seem to get worse.

Teaching is not the same profession today that it was when I was a brand new teacher.

Then, I was eager to learn. I sought out professional learning opportunities and immersed myself in everything I could.

I was respected.

I was supported in my professional growth journey by administration, families and the school district.

Innovation, experimentation, collaboration.

These were what mattered and were encouraged and expected.

Today I feel like the protester at the women’s march below. How much longer?
