Is it Spring?

I think spring may have finally arrived.
I look out the window of my classroom
and see the wind rustling the leaves
of an evergreen tree.
I can see flocks of birds flying low
in the sky.
I can’t see any snow
from where I’m sitting,
but that’s deceptive.
I know that once I leave the building
there will be hills here and there,
some of it melting and then turning
to ice overnight,
then melting again during the day.
I’m not counting on this weather staying its course, though.
I’ve seen too many springs here become winter again.
A drop in the temperature.
Take out the coat,
mittens,
hats,
boots.
Spring just came for a short visit and has now gone away.
