There are so many ideas and emotions swirling around in my head today.
I don’t know which one to focus on.
As a white, Latinx teacher, I think a lot about what it means to be antiracist.
I know there is a lot of work still to be done within the Latinx community around this issue.
And, I accept the fact that this is a journey not a destination.
Some days, I will be crystal clear about everything.
Other days, not so much.
I also have work to do on myself for myself.
Sometimes I have nothing to contribute to the conversation.
Other days I have a lot to say, but is it my place to say it?
Then, I think: if not me, then who?
Can I (we) wait for someone else to step up to the plate?
Of course, I (we) can’t. I have to find the courage to show up, as imperfect as that may turn out to be.
I have made mistakes – said too much or too little, done too much or not enough.
I will continue to make mistakes.
However, I am committed to this work.
Are you?
