I just finished the first round of parent-teacher conferences. Tomorrow is the second day.
We – parents and children- talked about what is going well and why, what’s not going well and why, and the children fleshed out their goals.
I had one in-person conference and the rest were virtual; the same for tomorrow.
Next week my students and I are getting rid of our rows and setting up table groups of four to five students. I am so excited and so are they. This will be their first time not sitting in rows.
After conferences, I went home to a super clean house. We are trying out a new cleaning service and they did a great job: having a clean house makes a huge difference to my state of mind.
We have one more week of school and then we’re off for Spring Break. And, the weather’s warming up, at least for now.
Wins all the way.

Being able to write your slice after back to back parent conferences all day is very impressive! Hang on for one more week until Spring Break!

Congrats on all of your wins! These are huge things. Things only a teacher in these days can fully appreciate. Pods are a beautiful thing.

Oooooh I envy that clean house! I have PTCs tomorrow too. I have spring break in a week too. I don’t have that clean house. 😦

A super clean house is a delight! We now do virtual conferences, and I think they work so well and are so much more convenient for parents. I hope you will love the table groupings. I borrowed your idea for my slice today. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey, Elisabeth. I agree about virtual conferences. In fact, I have 28 families in my classroom and only two requested an in person conference.

Ooh, that sounds like so many great wins! I’m especially excited for you that you get to move back to groups instead of rows in your classroom. I love the glimpse into a day with so many positives.

Thank you for your comment. So far, the groups are going well; the kids are enjoying being in a cluster rather than in rows. 😀😀
