Day 27 – SOL March Challenge – Circles for Reconciliation

by

in

Today I participated in my first Circle for Reconciliation.

It was an emotional and inspirational 1 1/2 hours.

We introduced ourselves and shared why we were there. I chose to participate in a circle as part of my journey to being an anti racist teacher and person.

I was nervous before the circle started because I was worried I would say something silly or offensive and not realize it. I also tend to talk a lot and didn’t want to dominate the conversation.

It turned out that the moderators were gracious and thorough in their introduction to the 10-week commitment we had made, making all of us feel welcome.

It was a great way to end the week and get ready for a new one.

I am looking forward to next week’s circle.

Here’s the Circles for Reconciliation website for any Canadian slicers who might be interested in participating in a circle.

What a neat experience! I appreciate how you shared your worries that you felt. 10 weeks sounds like an amazing journey!

This sounds really amazing. Thank you for posting the link to the website. I checked it out, and really appreciate your honesty in sharing how you were worried; and where you were mentally/emotionally entering the space. I hope you write about more of your experiences.

I’m focusing on slicers I don’t know, but I’m not sure I’ve stopped by this March. What an incredible experience. I understand the feeling that you talk too much. I have to fight this inclination too. Sounds like your moderators were top-notch.

Sounds like such a worthwhile time. I am one who often needs to limit my talking too.
