(Overheard in every online class everywhere.)

“You were glitching, Sra. Waingort. What did you say?”
“Turn on your cameras, please.”
“You’re muted, Sra. Waingort.”
“I got kicked out of the Meet. What are we doing?”
“Sorry, I’m late. I was looking at the wrong day on the schedule.”
“My camera doesn’t work.”
“I can’t get in to the Microsoft Teams Meeting.”
“My mic doesn’t work.”
“When is this class over?”
“I’m not gonna do that.”
Ah! Spring break can’t come soon enough.

I just have one more day of this remote week and I’ll be on break. This remote week was supposed to be part of break, but it had to be used to make up for starting the year late. I add to your list:
“Wake up, S.” and “My screen is green.”

Coming to the end of my break, feeling a mix of feelings about returning to many of the expressions you list — as part of a new foray into hybrid learning environments where I teach. I appreciate you reminding me of these moments, helping me to prepare.

I still have another week before break so I’m glad you made me laugh with your post. I’ve heard some of those statements so much that they have wiggled themselves into my dreams.

Returning to work this Tuesday. Apprehension always builds up at this point. Trying to practice deep breathing as much as possible. Hang in there!
