About a week ago, I wrote about wanting (and needing) to focus on my reading life because for some reason I haven’t been able to read for extended periods of time, much less finish anything that I start.
I committed to reading for a total of one hour every day.

Although I haven’t timed myself, I have been reading for longer and longer stretches every day. I finished two books over the last couple of days and am reading three others with the engagement that I customarily bring to my reading.
Part of my problem had been that I would pick up a book, read a few pages, put it down and do the same thing with another book. Over. And. Over. Again.
It was exhausting.
Once I committed to rebuilding my reading life, it didn’t turn out to be as difficult as I imagined. Of course, this week I’m on Spring Break and I have more time during the day to read. The key will be maintaining this goal when school resumes in a week.
But, for now, I’m in my happy place.

Elisa, this is one of my goals. I am going to bed earlier so I can spend time reading before I turn out the light. I was looking at writing quotes the other day, and many of them were about the importance of reading to becoming a better writer. I would love to hear what you are reading.

I am reading a couple of professional books – one on Blended Learning by Catlin Tucker and the other one is on Classroom Talk. I’m also reading The Chicken Sisters. It’s a Reese Witherspoon book club pick. I am loving it! I don’t have any of the books in front of me, but I will share them at the next Time2Write session. Just remind me!

Well done for planning to stick to your goal. That is what I have to do, carve out a reading time daily.

I went through the same thing. I’d start a book, read a bit, stop, get another book and repeat the process. I’m hoping to get some prime reading in time on my spring break next week. You’ve inspired me!

I’m so jealous. My break is next week and I have three books ready to go. The last three books I’ve gotten from the library I’ve had to return without finishing because I ran out of time to read them. This stinking job keeps getting in the way!! I’m ready for some focused reading time! Enjoy yours!

I hope you get to do all of the reading you want to do. I feel like I’ve really found my reading self again and I am so happy!

Such a great goal. I read in snippets now..in between other things. I did set a timer for awhile. I need to do that again. I do find the timer magical for all kinds of things.
